ZB - Clay Plasters | ZB - clay plasters are an ecologically optimized building material sourced regionally and with the possibility of individually mixed variants. Easy processing by hand or with machines, favourable physical building properties |
Composition | ZB - Clay Plasters consists of various natural clays and sands in equal parts. Organic additives are possible. |
FIELD OF USE | ZB - Clay Plasters can also be used in three layers with full-surface overlapping reinforcement in heated wall areas. ZB - Clay Plasters is not suitable as a base plaster and in areas with soil contact. ZB - Clay Plasters is not suitable as a substrate for tiles. |
Properties | ZB - Clay Plasters are capable of vapor diffusion, body and air sound insulation, heat-storing, heat-regulating, moisture-regulating. They have a low equilibrium moisture content and are very easy to process. |
Technical data / Average Values | 1000 kg yield 600 L fresh mortar |
Delivery Options | ZB Universal Clay Plaster, earth moist, 0-2 mm Clay - sand 0-2 mm - straw up to 3 cm |
Consumption | approx. 1.6 - 1.8 kg dry plaster / sqm / mm plaster thickness |
Basic rules for the processor | When mixing the clay plasters with gypsum, lime or cement-bound materials, the binding power of the clay is lost. Adjust the consistency of the plasters so that little mixing water is needed. Ensure adequate ventilation so that the masonry can dry out quickly. Clay plasters get their strength only by drying and do not bind by a chemical reaction with binders. |
Processing Underground | The substrate must be firm, dry, stable and evenly absorbent. It must be salt-free and free from fungi (sponge). Less absorbent substrate (clinker) and drywall system (Fermacell, gypsum plasterboard) are to be specially pre-treated. |
Compensation | Unevenness must be levelled with clay plaster before the actual clay plaster application. The levelling plaster should be removed flush with the surface and roughened, during drying, with a notched trowel or similar. |
Preparation of the plaster mixtures | ZB - Clay Plasters are delivered damp or dry and mixed in a clean mortar tub with the required amount of water. |
Apply plaster | Slurry surfaces with a medium-sized clay slurry, then put the clay plasters on the still moist slurry. ZB - Clay Plasters are raised or sprayed with the trowel. A plaster layer should be between 5 and 10 mm thick. For larger plaster thicknesses multi-layered work is needed. Before applying the next layer, make sure that the earlier clay plaster layer is dry and roughened. |
Surface Treatment | Immediately after applying the clay plaster is pulled off by lot and horizontally and then rubbed with a wooden board or felted with a sponge board. By etching the surface can also be reworked at a later date. By soaking the surface can also be reworked later. |
Subsequent paint | Loose parts are swept away from the dry clay plaster with a soft broom. Subsequently, an open-pored, low-stress hardening paint system is applied. Pre-wetting the clay plaster walls should be avoided. |
Safety Instructions | Not mandatory |
Storage | ZB - Clay Plasters will be delivered earth-moist in big-bags. They are to be stored weather-protected on the construction site. The soil-moist mixture should be watered regularly, especially under summer conditions, in order not to dry out the surface. |
Quality Control | Ongoing production controls |
